UGDC and Trafigura Sign Strategic LNG Supply Agreement

Karachi – Universal Gas Distribution Company (UGDC) and Trafigura, a leading Singapore-based global commodity trading company, have reaffirmed their cooperation agreement for terminal capacity and the supply of LNG to UGDC.

This landmark agreement strengthens UGDC’s position as the first private gas marketing company in Pakistan and reinforces its commitment to ensuring reliable LNG imports to meet the country’s growing energy needs.

Trafigura, with its longstanding presence in Pakistan, owns the terminal capacity not contracted by PLL at the Pakistan Gas Port Consortium Limited (PGPC). Under the agreement, Trafigura will utilize this capacity to import LNG and sell gas to UGDC.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, UGDC CEO Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha and Fadi Mitri, Business Development and Origination – LNG and Gas at Trafigura, highlighted the importance of this collaboration in ensuring energy security and enhancing private sector participation in Pakistan’s gas market.

The signing ceremony was also attended by senior officials from both companies, including Mr. Erlend Onsøien Aasheim from BW LNG, whose company has provided the FSRU for the second LNG terminal.

This agreement marks another milestone in UGDC’s mission to empower private gas buyers in Pakistan, ensuring reliable energy solutions for industries and businesses across the country.
