Mr. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha
Mr. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of UGDC. He has vast experience in gas transport and finalizing supply agreements with different multinational companies. He is the first businessman in Pakistan who has been working hard for the past seven years to bring LNG to Pakistan. He has served in advisory roles with various government organizations, contributing to the formulation of network codes, gas shortage mitigation plans, Third Party Access rules, etc. Additionally, he has been an active member of legal framework committees of MPNR and OGRA. He holds a Master's degree in Economics.
Mr. Paracha is the founder of the CNG industry and has held the position of Central Chairman in the All Pakistan CNG Association (APCNGA) several times, as well as serving as the Regional Chairman for the province of KPK for an extended period. He has been a natural leader in the association since 1997. The LNG for CNG initiative is his brainchild, and he has motivated the association team to take up this challenge. He has also served as an Executive Member of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FPCCI) numerous times, heading several committees and playing a significant role in the sustainable growth of Pakistan's gas sector.
Mr. Paracha owns several businesses, including a modern agricultural farm spanning 200 acres of land, various fast-food restaurants, gas wells, and experience in gas filtration, gas supply to consumers, gas stations, and petrol retail outlets operations. He also owns a gas cylinder testing lab. His efforts include working towards the introduction of European Standard & Efficient gas equipment, including computerized CNG kits and lightweight gas cylinders from Italy. He maintains strong business relations with leading international brands and companies, spanning two decades.
Through his consistent hard work and ongoing efforts, Mr. Paracha played a pivotal role in the formulation of a CNG-friendly policy by the Government of Pakistan. He was instrumental in restarting the CNG sector through the use of government-owned pipeline networks for the provision of LNG. He also played a significant role in resolving taxation issues between CNG owners and the Government of Pakistan through negotiations in both the upper and lower houses of the Parliament and the highest offices, ultimately facilitating the sustainability of the CNG industry in Pakistan. He also played a key role in introducing and recognizing CNG policy as a private sector enterprise. Therefore, UGDC will be a pioneer in the private sector enterprises. Mr. Paracha has proven to be the most inspiring leader for the entire team, leading the LNG for CNG Initiative with great enthusiasm.
