Mr. Ghiyas Paracha

Mr. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha is the Founder and CEO of Universal Gas Distribution Company (UGDC). He holds a Postgraduate degree in Economics from the University of Peshawar and is a Certified director under SECP regulations, trained at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). From a professional standpoint, he has over 26 years of experience in the natural gas sector, with expertise in CNG, RLNG, natural gas, joint ventures, contract negotiations, gas distribution, and retail operations.
Mr. Paracha played a key role in finalizing the "Pakistan Gas Network Code" and "OGRA 3rd Party Access Rules", gaining in-depth knowledge of Pakistan’s gas pipeline network regulations and legal framework. He has contributed to gas policy planning and served on the Gas Advisory Board of the Ministry of Energy, Government of Pakistan. At present, he plays an advisory role in the Deputy Prime Minister’s Special Committee on Gas Reforms and an active participant in the Gas Advisory Board under the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division).
He has been representing Pakistan at several international forums and events regularly, including GASTECH, LNG World, and the World Gas Conference. He also secured the first private LNG import license in Pakistan and established agreements with global energy leaders like ExxonMobil, Qatar Gas, Trafigura, Mitsubishi, Shell, Gunvor, ConocoPhillips, Vitol, etc.
As a pioneer in promoting private sector’s involvement in the gas industry, Mr. Paracha introduced efficient gas usage through pipeline, virtual pipeline, and compression technologies. He is recognized for his leadership in gas supply, filtration, and quality enhancement solutions.
