- UGDC (Universal Gas Distribution Company) is established with a vision to enable private LNG imports to complement national supply.
- UGDC signs an agreement with ENGRO
- UGDC obtains its Gas Sale and Distribution License.
- Gains legal status to import and distribute LNG in the private sector.
- Participates in shaping the Third-Party Access (TPA) Policy backed by the World Bank, enabling pipeline access for private gas companies.
- UGDC signs a strategic LNG supply agreement with ExxonMobil at their headquarters in the USA. Deal witnessed by Pakistan’s Minister for Petroleum and the Pakistani Ambassador.
- UGDC becomes the first Pakistani private company to enter direct Sale and Purchase Agreements with multiple international suppliers:
- Qatar Gas, ExxonMobil, Trafigura, ConocoPhillips
- Mitsubishi, BB Energy, Gunvor, Vitol, MOL
- Shell, PPL, PSO, Pakistan Gas Port, and others.
- UGDC purchases indigenous gas from MOL, operating the Mami Khail block in partnership with OGDC, PPL, POL, and GHPL.
- Becomes first private company in Pakistan to procure local gas through TPA.
- Supplies gas to industrial clients in Lahore, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad—a major step for the private distribution market.
- UGDC establishes a state-of-the-art gas purification plant at Sinjhoro field.
- Implementation of membrane separation and chemical processes to reduce CO₂ from 22% to 1.4%.

Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, the then Chief Minister of Punjab and current Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Ghiyas Paracha, Chief Executive Officer of UGDC, and Brigadier (Retired) Iftikhar Ahmed engaged in high-level discussions regarding the provision of gas to the transport sector in Punjab.
Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, and Mr. Jam Kamal Khan, Minister of State for Petroleum, were presented with an LNG ship memento by the CEO of UGDC Mr. Ghiyas Paracha.
In August 2017, Mr. Ghiyas Abdullah Paracha, CEO of UGDC, extended his congratulations to Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on assuming office as the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

In a historic moment for Pakistan’s energy sector, Mr. Nadeem Baber, Advisor to the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), ExxonMobil Vice President Mr. Richard Rayfield, and UGDC CEO Mr. Ghiyas Paracha signed a landmark agreement in Houston in 2019 for the supply of LNG to Pakistan’s transport sector.
Mr. Fadi Mitri, Global Head of Business Development at Trafigura, and Mr. Ghiyas Paracha shared a handshake at Trafigura’s Geneva headquarters following the signing ceremony — a noteworthy moment marking a key milestone in global gas partnership.
