Import and Sale of Natural Gas, Federal Government Opens Licensing Sector
Islamabad — The Federal Government has opened the licensing sector for the import and sale of natural gas. According to details, licenses will now be issued under the supervision of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), through which companies will be able to import natural gas and supply it to consumers. This step is aimed at ensuring a reliable gas supply to industries and the general public.
Punjab Chief Minister has directed that registered companies guarantee uninterrupted gas supply to the textile industry, as this sector holds a vital position in the national economy. He emphasized that the availability of energy for industries is essential for sustainable growth and for creating employment opportunities.
Government officials stated that the opening of the licensing sector will help establish a competitive environment, attract investment, and reduce energy shortages. The initiative is also expected to improve transparency and efficiency in the energy sector.
Furthermore, the government clarified that all regulatory frameworks and monitoring mechanisms will remain in place. Strict action will be taken to prevent misuse of licenses and to ensure fair and transparent business practices.
